Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins visit White House for second year in a row

The 2017 Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins were honored at the White House for the second year in a row on Tuesday — but this roster’s trip was slightly different than the last.

After rescinding an invitation for the NBA champion Golden State Warriors to visit the White House, President Donald Trump tweeted that the Penguins were still welcome for their ceremony. Team captain Sidney Crosby stated that the trip was “an opportunity” for himself and his teammates.

The 30-year-old Crosby has made the celebratory trip to the White House after each of his three championships in a Penguins jersey.
