Fans and impersonators celebrate Elvis in 25th annual festival

Elvis Presley may be gone, but his music and spirit live on — especially at the Parkes Elvis Festival, an impressive gathering to honor the artist in Parkes, Australia each year.

The small town west of Sydney hosts the unique festival, which generally runs for five days in January to coincide with Presley’s birthday. Fans flock to honor the King of Rock and Roll with tribute performances, lookalike contests and rugby games.

A look back at Prince’s legendary career in photos

The world was introduced to Prince over 40 years ago when the superstar’s first album, For You, was released in April of 1978. His first live performance with his band followed in January of the next year, and from there, the rest is history.

Prince — born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958 — passed away today at the age of 57. From his earliest performances to one of the most memorable Super Bowl halftime shows in history, there was never any shortage of spectacle when Prince was in the spotlight.
