President Obama’s final year in the White House

President Barack Obama has called 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue home for the past eight years, and 2016 has been a year full of lasts for him — his last State of the Union, his last Medals of Freedom, his last turkey pardoning. He spent also a lot of time traveling, becoming the first sitting president to visit both Hiroshima and Cuba (since 1928).

On November 10, Obama met with President-elect Donald Trump at the White House, beginning the transition of power.

Scenes from the final week along the campaign trail

After a long and hard-fought battle, Election Day 2016 is here — likely a relief for the candidates, their campaigns and citizens across the country.

As national polls showed the candidates’ numbers getting closer and closer in the last week, both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton amped up their campaigning. Notable names like Katy Perry and Steve Aoki stepped out for Clinton, while Trump and the Secret Service faced a brief scare in Nevada and a final FBI investigation into Clinton’s emails was closed.

Bernie Sanders and his bird. Khizr Khan’s pocket Constitution at the DNC. Questionable photoshopping of Ted Cruz. The past 10 months of this election year have certainly provided us with plenty of memorable moments.

Now, we’re down to the final hours of the election. By the end of the night, the country will have a new president-elect, likely either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, who represent the two major political parties.
